Friday I'm in Love

It's Friday!  Thanks for stopping by to see what I'm digging this week.  Don't forget to pop over to the other gals' sites to see what they're loving, too: MishaKendraMary BethAmandaAileen, and Jessica!

ONE: Freshfields Farmers Market

We have tons of Farmers Markets in the Lowcountry, but the one just down the road resumed on Monday.  It's at Freshfields Village on Kiawah.  They have lots of food vendors, treats, and gifts.  One of my favorite stands is Joseph Fields Farms.  Their farm is located here on Johns Island and is certified organic.  They have the best fruits and veggies.  I bought some peppers, onions, peaches, and green beans (picked that morning!).  Yum!

TWO: Sweet Lulu's Bakery on Wheels

I stopped by Sweet Lulu's trailer at the Farmers Market.  Karen, the owner, makes delicious mason jar desserts.  She goes to great lengths to make sure her goods are well-sourced.  Karen bakes with King Arthur Flour and local organic eggs.  I had two Strawberry Shortcakes.  They were made with local strawberries soaked in Firefly Peach Cobbler Vodka (Wadmalaw) layered between Callie's biscuits (N. Charleston).  That's as Lowcountry as you can get!  I also had a gluten-free nutty brownie.  Everything was delicious!!!  Karen also offers a recycling program...bring back the jars and get a punch; ten punches and you've earned a free dessert.  Even her spoons are biodegradable.  Treats with an Earth-friendly conscience!

THREE: Axel Irons

The other day, I saw footage on Facebook of 5 year-old Axel Irons shredding in Hawaii.  Then I came across this super cute video of him and his mom, Lyndie Irons (owner of Acacia Swimwear).  Axel's dad was the late pro-surfer Andy Irons.  Andy passed away of a heart attack in 2010 while Lyndie was eight months pregnant.  It's evident by this video that Lyndie is an incredible parent to her adorable little boy!
